Brandon, Manitoba – Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, in association with the Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that veteran left-winger Tyler Coulter has been chosen the Western Hockey League club’s IMPACT Player of the Month for December.
A 19-year old local product, Coulter finished the month among the club’s scoring leaders and managed to score at least a point in eleven of the club’s 12 games.
One of six former AAA Midget Wheat Kings on this year’s club, Coulter – who had a career high 11-game point scoring streak snapped this past weekend – had six goals and 12 points in twelve games last month as the Wheat Kings compiled an 8-3-1-0 record to climb back into first place in the WHL’s Eastern Division.
Coulter, who is well on his way to having a career year offensively, enters Friday night’s game against the second place Prince Albert Raiders with nine goals and 23 points in forty games. Two of his goals have been shorthanded efforts. As well, the 6’ 195 lb forward has a plus / minus rating of +13 through the first 40 games of the 2015-16 campaign.
Since joining the Wheat Kings in 2013, Coulter has scored 33 goals and 77 points in 167 games.
Coulter and the Wheat Kings enter Friday night’s game against Prince Albert with a record of 24-12-2-2 and riding a 4-game home ice win streak.
This award is presented to the Wheat King who contributes to the team and exemplifies the characteristics of what IMPACT stands for…Inspire, Motivate, Participate, Achieve, Champion and Team.
Coulter joins rookie Logan Thompson and veteran Macoy Erkamps as this year’s Impact Monthly winners.
Coulter’s award will be presented during Friday night’s game against the Raiders at Westman Place.
