Wheat Kings Set to Open Second Half

Tanner Kaspick will be out of Brandon's lineup indefinitely with
an upper body injury.
The Christmas break is over and it’s back to work for the Brandon Wheat Kings.

The club begins its unofficial second half by hosting the Regina Pats Sunday, a 4:00 p.m. afternoon start at Westman Communications Group Place.

The Wheat Kings posted a 21-11-1-2 record in the first half and lead the WHL’s East Division by two points over second-place Prince Albert.

Tanner Kaspick will be on the sidelines for the Wheat Kings.

The second-year forward suffered an upper body injury in Brandon’s final game before the break and is expected to be out of the lineup for a few weeks.

Stelio Mattheos did practice Saturday night but remains day-to-day with his upper body injury while Jayce Hawryluk will play Sunday – his first game with the Wheat Kings since being released by the Canadian Junior Team ahead of the World Junior Hockey Championship.

Chaff...Wheat Kings' F John Quenneville was pointless in Canada's 4-2 loss to the United States Saturday in their opening round-robin game at the 2016 World Junior Hockey Championship...Brandon D Ivan Provorov was pointless in Russia's 2-1 shootout win over the Czech Republic Saturday at the WJHC...F Tyler Coulter takes an eight-game point streak (4 G, 5 A) into Sunday's contest...F Ty Lewis is on a five-game point streak (2 G, 4 A).
