Pats Knock Off Brandon in OT

Reid Duke scored Brandon's lone goal Friday.
Austin Wagner scored 43 seconds into overtime as the Regina Pats edged the Brandon Wheat Kings 2-1 on Friday night.

Connor Hobbs scored the Pats' other goal on a Regina power-play early in the first period while Reid Duke got Brandon's lone goal with 1:29 left in regulation, when the Wheat Kings' net was empty for an extra attacker.

"Took us a lot of chances to finally get one.  We had a couple of cross-bars along the way, we had the first good look with a breakaway in overtime," said Brandon GM/Coach Kelly McCrimmon on CKLQ's post-game show, "Just had a tough time scoring here tonight."

Jordan Papirny made 29 saves in the Brandon net while Jordan Hollett stopped 40 shots for Regina.

The overtime loss coupled with Prince Albert's 2-0 win in Lethbridge Friday night leaves the Wheat Kings two points behind the first-place Raiders in the East Division.

The Wheat Kings are back on home-ice Saturday night, hosting the Saskatoon Blades (7:30 p.m., Westman Communications Group Place).
