The Calgary Hitmen will be without Vancouver Canucks’ first rounder Jake Virtanen for the next two games.
The WHL finalized Virtanen’s suspension at three games Monday, a suspension that stems from a hit to the head on Brandon’s Tanner Kaspick in Game #1 Friday and resulted in an injury to the Wheat Kings’ forward.
Virtanen has already served one game of the suspension and will sit out Games #3 and #4 of the Eastern Conference Final Tuesday and Wednesday to complete the sentence.
He would eligible to return to Calgary’s lineup in a possible Game #5 on Friday.
Kaspick, meanwhile, did not practice with the Wheat Kings on Monday and is expected to miss at least the next two games.
Defenceman Kale Clague, who was also injured in Game #1, and forward Reid Duke are also expected to remain out of Brandon’s lineup.
