Wheat Kings Stumble in PA

Macoy Erkamps wore an 'A' Friday in the absence of regular
alternate captain Quintin Lisoway
The Prince Albert Raiders jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead and went on to a 5-2 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday night.
The loss was Brandon’s second in regulation in their last 23 games (18-2-1-2), both of which have come at the hands of the Raiders.
Friday’s contest was similar to Brandon’s 6-4 loss in Prince Albert February 20th, a game that also saw the Raiders jump out to a 3-0 first period lead.
“Got behind early and similar to our game two weeks ago, just a terrible response,” said Brandon Gm/Coach Kelly McCrimmon on CKLQ’s post-game show, “ Giving up the second goal and third goal, same as the last time in here, just isn’t the way you should handle those situations.”
Tim McGauley and Peter Quenneville had a goal and an assist each for the Wheat Kings, with McGauley extending his point-scoring streak to a league-best 21 games (14 G, 31 A).
The loss leaves Brandon (47-11-4-2) two points behind the Kelowna Rockets for first-place in the WHL’s overall standings.
The Wheat Kings are back in action Saturday, hosting the Swift Current Broncos (7:30 p.m., Westman Communications Group Place).
