Hawryluk Returns, but Five Others Remain Out

Jayce Hawryluk
  And then, there was five!

The Brandon Wheat Kings injury list will shrink by one this weekend as Jayce Hawryluk is expected to return to the lineup for the club’s two-game Saskatchewan road trip that begins Friday night in Prince Albert (6:37 p.m., 880 CKLQ).
“I’m super excited to finally get back playing,” said Hawryluk on Thursday, “I hate missing games, hate watching games and couldn’t be more excited to be in the lineup this weekend.”
Hawryluk has missed 13 games with an upper body injury, but practiced without restrictions Thursday on a line with John Quenneville and Rihards Bukarts.
“I feel like I can bring energy to the lineup and help out all-around,” added Hawryluk, who has 19 goals and 47 points in 40 games this season, “I feel like I’m a leader on this team and, coming back, I’m going to try and work as hard as I can and play as hard as I can and not stray from that.  The guys are playing awesome and it’s fun to watch, but it’s fun to be part of it.”
Hawryluk is only one of six players on the Wheat Kings’ injury list that is expected to return this weekend.
F Nolan Patrick (lower body), F Reid Duke (lower body), D Ivan Provorov (upper body), D Kale Clague (lower body) and G Alex Moodie (upper body) are all expected to remain out of the lineup.
Brandon puts a nine-game road winning streak on the line this weekend while the Wheat Kings have gone 16 games without a regulation loss (14-0-1-1).
The club is two points behind the Kelowna Rockets for first-place overall, with both teams having 14 games left in the regular season.
