Four Wheat Kings in CSS Midterm Rankings

Ivan Provorov is #10 in the NHL CSS midterm rankings
The NHL Central Scouting Service released its midterm rankings on Tuesday, two days ahead of the Canadian Hockey League Top Prospects game.
Brandon Wheat Kings’ defenceman Ivan Provorov solidified his status as a potential first round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft by being ranked 10th among North American skaters.
Provorov is third among WHL defencemen with 41 points, including 11 goals, with the 41 points also leading all rookies in the Western Hockey League.
The 6-foot-0, 191 pound Provorov has seven power-play goals and 22 power-play points included in his total.
Fellow Wheat Kings’ blueliner Ryan Pilon is ranked 31st among North American skaters, which projects him to be a mid-to-late second round pick.
The 6-foot-2, 212 pound Pilon is 9th among WHL defencemen in scoring with 36 points while helping to anchor the Wheat Kings’ top defensive pairing with Provorov.
Provorov and Pilon will both play for Team Orr in Thursday’s CHL Top Prospects Game in St. Catherines, Ontario.
Two other Wheat Kings were recognized in the rankings, with Rihards Bukarts ranked 190th among North American skaters and Jordan Papirny ranked 25th among North American goaltenders.

Bukarts has 16 goals and 25 assists for 41 points in 36 games this season while Papirny leads the WHL with 28 wins while also accumulating a 2.93 goals against average and .906 save percentage in 38 starts this year.
Other players of interest include former Wheat King Jesse Gabrielle of the Regina Pats, who’s ranked 61st among North American skaters.
As expected, Connor McDavid and Jake Eichel are ranked 1-2 among North American skaters.
