12 Former Wheat Kings on NHL Opening Day Rosters

  12 former Brandon Wheat Kings were on NHL Opening Day rosters when they were finalized including Jordin Tootoo, who was signed to a one-year, one-way contract by the New Jersey Devils Tuesday.

  Tootoo was in Devils' training camp on a professional tryout agreement.

  Tootoo has 49 goals, 134 points and 808 penalty minutes in 539 regular-season appearances with Nashville and Detroit.

    In other roster notes, the New York Islanders sent former Wheat King Ryan Pulock to the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers Tuesday; former Wheat Kings' captain Mark Stone is on Ottawa's 23-man roster to start the season and ex Wheat King Colby Robak is on the roster of the Florida Panthers.

  A total of 12 former Wheat Kings and an additional three Westman products were on NHL Opening Day rosters.
