Shmyr has one goal and two points in nine games during this rookie season with the Wheat Kings.

"One of my goals was to make that team.  I just worked hard every practice and my hard work paid off," said Shmyr on Thursday, "Every time I'm out there, I just try to give it 100 per cent.  Just try to stay positive with the ice-time I'm getting and just go out there and do my best."

Team West's roster is expected to be named on Friday.

The World Under-17 Hockey Challenge will take place from December 29th to January 4th in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
