- goaltender Curtis Honey (upper body) is out for the eighth consecutive game for the Wheat Kings, meaning rookie Jordan Papirny makes his eighth straight start in goal.  Other Brandon scratches are Tyler Coulter (healthy) and Braylon Shmyr (healthy).  They'll be joined by one more player following warmup.

- as expected, Ryan Pilon will make his Wheat Kings' debut tonight.  Originally, Brandon GM/Coach Kelly McCrimmon indicated that Pilon may have to be eased into the lineup this week after spending the past 10 days at home in Duck Lake, Saskatchewan.  However, Pilon was able to skate/practice with his former midget team, the Beardy's Blackhawks, during that time and reported to Brandon in better game shape/conditioning than the team had initially expected.  That's good news for the Wheat Kings.

- the Wheat Kings are looking to extend their season-high winning streak to four games and, in the process, extend their road winning streak to four games.  Brandon has outscored their opponents 16-7 during their three-game win streak and outshot them to the tune of 133-80.

- the special teams battle will be an interesting one tonight.  Swift Current is ranked 3rd in the WHL with a 26.2% success rate while the Wheat Kings are 20th in the WHL (or 3rd-worst) on the penalty-kill with a 74.0% kill rate.  On the other side, Brandon is 11-for-30 (36.7%) on the power-play in their last seven games and have scored at least two power-play goals in four straight games.

- the Broncos' power-play could take a hit tonight as defenceman Julius Honka (illness) is absent from the Swift Current lineup.  Honka has 28 points in 26 games this season including 16 power-play points (4 G, 12 A).
