- injuries starting to pile up a bit on the Wheat Kings. Goaltender Curtis Honey (upper body) will not dress tonight, leaving Brandon with a local netminder as Jordan Papirny's backup.  Honey joins defencemen Rene Hunter (upper body), Kord Pankewicz (upper body) and Tim McGauley (upper body) on the sidelines.  The final Brandon scratch will be either Jesse Gabrielle or Braylon Shmyr.

- the injuries to Hunter and Pankewicz leave just five healthy defencemen for the Wheat Kings. Jens Meilleur got a crash course on playing D during Brandon's game-day skate today and the veteran forward will fill in on the blueline tonight.

- The Wheat Kings are trying to break a four-game losing streak, their longest of the season.  Brandon has scored just six goals in the first four games of their road trip, none of which have come in the first period.  In fact, Brandon has scored just two first period goals in nine road games this season, part of their reason for their 2-7-0-0 record away from home.

- Other part of Brandon's road woes are their specialty teams.  The Wheat Kings are 4-for-41 (9.8%) on the power-play on the road this season and 26-for-36 (72.2%) on the penalty-kill.

- Wheat Kings' prospects Nolan Patrick and Tanner Kaspick scored the goals for Team Manitoba today in their 3-2 overtime loss to British Columbia at the Western Canada Under-16 Challenge Cup in Calgary.  Manitoba is winless after falling 3-2 to Alberta on Thursday.  Alberta is playing Saskatchewan tonight.
