WHL Draft Lottery Set for March 20th

For the first time since it was implemented, the Brandon Wheat Kings will be involved in the Western Hockey League's draft lottery.
The lottery will take place next Wednesday, March 20th and involved the six non-playoff teams.

The last-place team will have six balls placed in the lottery, with the 21st-place team having five balls, the 20th-place team four balls and so on.

The team that wins the lottery can only move up two spots, meaning the Wheat Kings would have to remain in their current spot in 20th-place to have a chance at the #1 pick.

Brandon has never selected first overall since the bantam draft was implemented in 1990.

The Wheat Kings also hold Saskatoon's first round pick and, if you include their own second round selection, brandon could pick three times in the first 25 picks in the draft.

The WHL Bantam Draft will be held on Thursday, May 2nd.
