Yaworski to be Suspended

Tyler Yaworski
It appears he's been convicted, now he just needs to be sentenced.

WHL disciplinarian Rick Doerksen confirmed to the Brandon Sun that Brandon Wheat Kings' defenceman Tyler Yaworski will be suspended for his checking-to-the-head major he was assessed during Saturday's win over the Regina Pats.

Doerksen is expected to finalize the length of the suspension either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Considering Yaworski was suspended for three games after being assessed the same penalty back in October, it would be safe to assume it'll be longer than that.

The next action for the Wheat Kings is Wednesday night when they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes (7:05 p.m., Westman Communications Group Place).

It was late and it was a pretty much a blind side contact...think there is something in the new rule about the angle to the hit...cannot be more than 90o from forward motion or something like that and being a repeat offender might be costly? Slow motion clearly shows initial contact with the Regina players shoulder and then his head snaps back into the hit...really hard for big Dmen to make those kind of hits within the new rules...likely the league will make him yet another example, in the old days and other than being a bit late...was a textbook hit! Two little guys (Crosby/Bettman) decided that open ice hits and hits along the wall were to dangerous and introduced the "head shot rule", which has totally changed the game...now we have all these little guys like Petan, Liepsic, Lazar and smaller D men like Reilly that can now play in this league with great success because they know that they can cruise through the middle without having to worry about getting crushed, because it is simply not possible for a 6'3" or so D man to hit these little 5'8" or so forwards without any contact to their head? The game has changed considerably the last two years and I don't think its over yet, they want more scoring, more pretty plays and more heroes in the game because thats what they say sells tickets...just my 2 cents...Go Wheaties!!!
