Pulock Nets Three Points in Brandon Win

Tim McGauley had a strong game for the
Wheat Kings on Friday
Ryan Pulock had a goal and two assists to pace the Brandon Wheat Kings to a 5-3 victory over the Regina Pats in Western Hockey League pre-season action Friday night.

Alessio Bertaggia added a goal and an assist for the Wheat Kings as they earned a split with the Pats in their pre-season home-and-home series.

"Anytime you put a defenceman who scored 20 goals in the Western Hockey League, he's going to add offensive punch to your lineup for sure," said Brandon coach Dwayne Gylywoychuk, "Even having a guy like Tyler Yaworski that's been in the league and is able to make the first pass, and two guys like Alessio and Nick Buonassisi, you add some veteran guys to your lineup and, all of a sudden, you added some flair."

Richard Nejezchleb, Taylor Cooper and Tim McGauley also scored for the Wheat Kings with McGauley's goal 5:06 into the 3rd period giving Brandon its two-goal cushion back after the Pats had battled back from a 4-1 deficit to make it 4-3.

"Tim has taken a step right from the first day of the camp. I think he was a little nervous coming in and thought maybe he had to do too much because of the time he spent with us last year," said Gylywoychuk, "You can tell that Tim worked hard over the summer to get himself in good shape and he's taken a step."

Jordan Papirny stopped 14 of 17 shots in going the distance in the Wheat Kings' net.

Brandon's next pre-season action is next Friday when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors.
