Cockell Out, Zelenewich In as Wheat Kings' Goalie Coach

Matt Cockell
Dwayne Gylywoychuk moving into the head coaching role isn't the only change on the Wheat Kings' coaching staff entering this season.

Matt Cockell is not returning as the club's goaltending coach.

Cockell doubles as Hockey Canada's women's goaltender coach and with the national team gearing up for the 2014 Olympics, Cockell felt he couldn't make the time commitment necessary to do the job on a full-time basis.

The Wheat Kings' new goaltending coach is former Brandon Bobcat Brent Zelenewich.

Zelenewich spent the past few seasons as an assistant coach with the Manitoba Bisons and is also the manager of goaltender development with the IceLab at the MTS Iceplex.
