Gylywoychuk Named to Team West Staff

Hockey Manitoba and Saskatchewan Hockey Association made a joint announcement about the coaching staff for Team West for the 2013 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge on Friday.

Brandon Wheat Kings' assistant coach Dwayne Gylywoychuk was named assistant coach for the squad, with Don McGillvray of the MJHL's Winnipeg Blues to be head coach and Malcolm Cameron of the WHL's Regina Pats filling out the other assistant coaching position.

Gylywoychuk, 39, will make his first appearance as a coach but was a player for Team West back in 1989.  He has been an assistant coach with the Wheat Kings for the past nine seasons and has previously been involved with Hockey Manitoba as guest speaker during coach development events and also as a Program of Excellence group leader and evaluator.

68 players (34 from Manitoba, 34 from Saskatchewan) have been invited to the Team West Summer Camp, which will held August 9-13 in Wilcox, Saskatchewan.

Among the players invited are Wheat Kings' prospects Tyler Coulter, Brett Kitt, Jayce Hawryluk, Ryley Lindgren and Dallas Starodub.

The World Under-17 Hockey Challenge will take place in Victoriaville & Drummondville, Quebec from December 29, 2012 – January 4, 2013.
