Sutherland Headed to Bisons

The next step for Brock Sutherland's hockey career will be in the CIS.

The Brandon product completed a four-year WHL career last Thursday when the Brandon Wheat Kings eliminated Sutherland and the Calgary Hitmen in the WHL playoffs.

Sutherland told Calgary PBP man Brad Curle afterward he's headed to the University of Manitoba and will play for the Bisons this fall.

"I'm headed to the U-of-M in Winnipeg, going to continue playing hockey there for the Bisons and I'm going start by taking business."

Sutherland added playing in the 2010 WHL Final as a member of the Tri-City Americans was the biggest highlight of his WHL career.

"It was all a great experience. I got a chance to play in the WHL finals," said Sutherland, "You come into this league as a boy and leave as a man, you learn a lot about yourself and how to take care of yourself and stuff like that."

Sutherland spent time in Lethbridge, Tri-City and Calgary during this WHL career, scoring nine goals and 56 points in 254 career games while also finish +53.

He added one goal, 10 points and a -6 rating in 44 playoff games.
