Ferland Joins AHL's Abbotsford Heat

Abbotsford Heat announced today that forward Michael Ferland has been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL) from Calgary (NHL).

Ferland finished ninth in the Western Hockey League in scoring with 47 goals and 96 points in 68 regular season games and added three goals and six points in eight playoff games.

The Brandon product was a fifth round pick of Calgary in the 2010 NHL Draft and signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Flames in December.

The Abbotsford Heat will face the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL's Calder Cup Playoffs. The Western Conference Quarterfinal (best-of-5) will start Friday, April 20 in Milwaukee for game one with game two scheduled for Sunday, April 22.
