Wheat Kings' Prospect Thrives at Mac's Midget Tournament

Kyler Hehn has a seventh round pick of the Brandon Wheat Kings in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft but has certainly made a name for himself in the 20 months that have followed.

Hehn and the St. Albert Sports Raiders qualified for the quarter-finals at the Mac's Midget Tournament in Calgary with a perfect 4-and-0 round-robin record.

Hehn has two goals and six assists for eight points in those four round-robin games.

He added two goals and an assist in the Raiders 6-5 win over the Beardy's Blackhawks in the quarter-final and had an assist in St. Albert's 3-2 loss to Russia Severstal/Locomotiv in the semifinals.

Hehn is currently sitting 11th in the Alberta AAA Midget Hockey League in scoring with nine goals and 27 points in 25 games.

Six other Wheat Kings' prospects played with their teams at the Mac's Tournament, although none of their squads qualified for the playoffs.

Mitch Collett (Calgary Royals) – 4 GP 1-0-1 Royals were 2-1-1

Jordan Papirny (SSAC Athletics) – 2 GP, 3.00 GAA (57 Shots, 51 Saves). SSAC was 2-1-1

John Quenneville (SSAC Athletics) – 4 GP 1-3-4 SSAC was 2-1-1

Taylor Cooper (Sherwood Park Kings) – 1 GP 1-1-2 Kings were 0-3-1
Note: Cooper missed the final three games of the round-robin with an upper body injury.

Tyler Fuhr (Sherwood Park Kings) – 1 GP, 5.00 GAA (35 Shots, 30 Saves) Kings are 0-3-1

Kord Pankewicz (Leduc Oil Kings) - 4 GP 3-3-6 Oil Kings are 2-2-0
