- Michael Ferland returns to the Brandon lineup tonight after serving his three-game suspension. The Wheat Kings are hoping he can provide a spark to a team that has lost six of their last nine games.

- Ferland and Mark Stone will be playing their final game with the Wheat Kings for at least a few days and, possibly, a month tonight. The duo will join the Canadian Junior Team's Selection Camp in Calgary tomorrow.

- Corbin Boes broke his hand in Edmonton on Thursday night so the Wheat Kings put out the call to Jordan Papirny to be Brandon Anderson's backup tonight in Red Deer. I caught up with Papirny for a couple of minutes prior to Friday's contest...

- In addition to Boes, Brandon is also scratching F Tyrel Seaman (suspected concussion), F Bruno Mraz (healthy) and D Dylan Kuczek (healthy).

- Brandon has surrendered four or more goals in nine of their last 11 games, and have given up the first goal of the game in 10 of their last 12 contests.

- Red Deer is without goaltender Patrik Bartosak, who suffered an upper body injury Wednesday in Swift Current. They've brought up Tyler Oswald from the MJHL's Winkler Flyers to serve as Bolton Pouliot's backup tonight.

- Red Deer takes an 11-game losing streak into tonight's contest, though eight of those 11 losses have been by two goals or less.
