Edmundson Added to Team WHL, and Other Notes

Joel Edmundson
The Subway Super Series is getting a little more Wheat City flavour.

Brandon product Joel Edmundson of the Moose Jaw Warriors has been added to Team WHL for Thursday's game in Moose Jaw.

Edmundson will take the spot of Edmonton blueliner Mark Pysyk, who is out with an injury.

The 18-year old Edmundson has one assist in seven games this season after missing the first six weeks with an ankle injury.

Four members of the Wheat Kings will also play in Thursday's game -- Mark Stone, Michael Ferland, Ryan Pulock and Jordan Fransoo.

Team Pacific's roster for the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge was announced on Tuesday morning.

Wheat Kings' rookie defenceman Ayrton Nikkel named to the squad.

Nikkel has one goal and two points in 16 games with Brandon this season.

The roster for Team West was also released on Tuesday, but no Wheat Kings' prospects nor players from the Western Manitoba area were chosen to the team.

The World Under-17 Hockey Challenge takes place from December 28 to January 4 in Windsor, Ontario.

Brandon Wheat Kings' netminder Corbin Boes is the WHL's nominee for the CHL Goaltender of the Week award.

Boes was 2-and-0 with a 1.13 goals against average and .965 save percentage in three appearances last week.

Boes, 18, is 7-1 with a 1.88 GAA and .938 SPCT in 12 appearances since October 1st.

Wheat Kings' prospect Jayce Hawryluk has been named the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League's West Division Player of the Week.

Hawryluk had five goals in two games last week and increase his season totals to 14 goals and 23 points in 13 games.

The Roblin product, who was Brandon's second round pick (32nd overall) in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft, is currently tied for 11th in the MMHL scoring race.
