Brandon Wheat Kings’ general manager Kelly McCrimmon has announced that rookie left-winger Carter Proft has been traded to the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for a fifth round bantam draft choice.

A 6’ 187 lb Spruce Grove, Alberta product, Proft was Brandon’s fifth round selection (106th overall) in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft.

After playing two games as a 16-year old affiliate in 2010-11, the former St. Albert Midget had one goal and ten minutes in penalties in thirteen games this season.

“Carter was in a situation where we weren’t going to be able to get him adequate ice time to keep him happy", said McCrimmon.  "When Jens Meilleur and Dominick Favreau return to our line-up we would have 14 forwards.  When this opportunity presented itself, we felt it was the right move for all involved.”
