Wheat Kings' Picks Make Team MB

named to Team Manitoba for the U16 Western Canada
Challenge Cup.
Hockey Manitoba has announced the roster for the Under-16 team that will competing in the 2011 Western Canada Challenge Cup in Moose Jaw later this month.

Among those chosen to the team were four of Brandon's picks in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.

Jayce Hawryluk (Parkland Rangers, MMHL), Dallas Starodub (Winnipeg Hawks, City Midget AAA), Brett Kitt (Brandon Wheat Kings, MMHL) and Ryley Lindgren (Wpg Thrashers, MMHL), were among the twelve forwards selected to the team.

Hawryluk has Brandon's second round selection (32nd overall) while Starodub was chosen in the fourth round (#77 overall) and Kitt and Lindgren were both chosen in the fifth round (#94 and #96 respectively).

Among the other players named to the team were Wawanesa product Jordan Thomson and Souris' Michael Fortin, who both play for the Southwest Cougars of the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.

The team will get together October 25th in Souris for an exhibition game against the Southwest Cougars before heading to Moose Jaw.

The Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup runs from October 27-30 at Mosiac Place in Moose Jaw.
