Alberta Wins Gold at Under-16 Challenge Cup

Alberta captured gold at the Western Canada Under-16 Challenge Cup on Sunday afternoon in Moose Jaw.

Blake Penner had two goals and Brayden Point added four assists for Alberta in a 10-4 victory over Manitoba.

Jordan Papirny, one of Brandon’s first round picks in the 2011 Bantam Draft, was named the tournament’s All-Star goaltender on Saturday but watched Sunday’s gold medal game from the Alberta bench.

Wheat Kings’ prospect Ryley Lindgren had a goal and an assist for Manitoba with Dan Schioler scoring twice and Maverick Rafter potting the other goal for Manitoba.
