WHL Training Camp Roundup

- the Vancouver Giants intrasquad game last night including seven fights and a near brawl, according to Steven Ewen of the Vancouver Province.

- lots of signings on Thursday.  The Everett Silvertips have signed their top two picks from the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft in Ty Mappin (#7 overall) and Dawson Leedahl (#40 overall); the Victoria Royals inked their first round pick from May in D Joe Hicketts (#12 overall) and the Saskatoon Blades also signed their top pick from 2011 in Landyn Hickmott.

- the Spokane Chiefs reassigned three players on Thursday, reducing their pre-season roster to 31 players in advance of this weekend's tournament in Everett.  17-year old Brandon product Cody Nelson is among the final 31.

- Boissevain, Manitoba product Wade Klippenstein has signed a two-year contract extension to remain with the Prince George Cougars as their Assistant General Manager and Director of Player Personnel.

- the Calgary Hitmen will be without G Chris Driedger, 17, for the next 3-4 weeks.  The Calgary Herald reports the Winnipeg product suffered a sprained ankle in training camp.
