WHL Training Camp Roundup

- the Prince Albert Raiders announced yesterday that G Jamie Tucker has cleared WHL waivers and is joining the BCHL's Victoria Grizzlies.  That must mean second-year man Eric Williams will be the main man between the pipes for the Raiders this season.

- the Ontario Hockey League announced yesterday it would have players wear soft cap elbow and shoulder pads for the upcoming season and reinforce player safety messages through educational videos.

- Congrats to Dennis Beyak and Brian Munz on officially being named the first voices of the new Winnipeg Jets.  I did throw my hat in the ring but felt it was a long shot as they were likely to look to someone with experience at the NHL level.

- A big thumbs up to the WHL today.  If you didn't realize it, the WHL is real-time scoring all the pre-season games this year with the exception of those that will be in satellite towns or cities.  Those games will be uploaded to the website after their completion.

- the August issue of the Red Line Report included the Independant Scouting Review's preliminary identification list for the 2012 Entry Draft.  Everett's Ryan Murray (#3), Edmonton's Griffin Reinhart (#4), Moose Jaw's Morgan Reilly (#10), Red Deer's Matt Dumba (#12) and Portland's Derek Pouliot (#17) all made the top 20.  Killarney product Reid Gow of the Spokane Chiefs was #73 while no members of the Brandon Wheat Kings made the top 100.
