Edmundson Enjoyed St. Louis Trip

Joel Edmundson got a taste of what it would be like to be a St. Louis Blue last week.

The 18-year old Brandon product spent a week in St. Louis, being part of a Blues' development camp.

"I loved it down there. The organization is really good, everyone treats us like professionals down there and it's just a great city," said Edmundson, "I can't wait to go down there for main camp."

The 6-foot-5, 190 pound Edmundson was a second round pick of St. Louis in the 2011 NHL Draft but will have to wait a while longer before he officially hits the ice with the Blues.

St. Louis' development camp did not include any on-ice activities.

"We'd just wake up in the morning, go work out and then get to know the city of St. Louis the rest of the day," added Edmundson, "We went and watched a baseball game, we went to the mall...they just showed us around the whole city."

I then asked Edmundson if he could envision himself living in St. Louis someday.

"Going down there would definitely be a huge change from Brandon, that's for sure," says Edmundson, "You just hear the other players down there talking, they're so close to each other. They'll all go out for supper every night and hang out but it's all business to them whenever they show up at the rink...it's 100 per cent hockey and just leave everything else outside."

Edmundson's next stint with the Blues will be with his fellow St. Louis prospects at the Traverse City Tournament from September 10-14.

He'll enter his second season with the WHL's Moose Jaw Warriors this fall.

Edmundson had two goals and 20 points in 71 games during his rookie campaign.
