Schneider Headed to School

Mark Schneider
Former Brandon Wheat King Mark Schneider is headed to school in his home away from home.

Schneider has committed to the University of Regina Cougars for next season.

"It just came down to Regina was close to home, I lived there last year and know my way around the city," says Schneider, "It just seemed like a good fit for my family and for my hockey career."

Schneider notched three goals and 20 points in 64 games with the Regina Pats last season after being dealt by the Wheat Kings in early October in a one-for-one trade for forward Dominick Favreau.

Schneider says the scholarship opportunity gained through four years in the WHL definitely influenced his decision to go the CIS route.

"I get the tuition and books paid for and everything so it was definitely a great option and one that was hard to turn down," says Schneider.

For his career in the Western Hockey League, Schneider had 16 goals and 47 points in 204 games with Kamloops, Brandon and the Pats.
