DeSerres Takes Home QMJHL Hardware

Former Brandon Wheat King Jacob DeSerres leads the Saint John Sea Dogs against the Victoriaville Tigres Friday night as the second round of the QMJHL playoffs get underway.

You can find a preview of the series at both http://stationnation.blogspot.com/ and http://www.seadogssnippets.blogspot.com/.

Meanwhile, DeSerres picked up some hardware earlier this week, being named the winner of the Jacques Plante Trophy after having the lowest goals against average in the regular season at 2.22.

"There's some big names on there, and I'm proud to add mine on to it," said DeSerres in an interview that was posted on the QMJHL website, "I definitely have to give a lot credit to my teammates. They were incredible in front of me all year, and I couldn't have done it without them."

DeSerres joined Saint John in mid-October after failing to secure one of the three 20-year old spots available with the Wheat Kings.

Heading to the East Coast is something he doesn't regret.

"It's been my favourite year of my junior career so far and I couldn't have made a better decision," said DeSerres, "I'm so happy that I ended up here and I'm so grateful for it."

DeSerres went 3-and-0 in helping the Sea Dogs sweep their first round series over former Wheat King Andrew Hayes and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
