WHL Playoffs - Game Day Nuggets

The Brandon Wheat Kings and Medicine Hat Tigers are just hours away from getting their Eastern Conference Quarter-Final Series underway.

The Wheat Kings and Tigers both went through optional game-day skates today and if one can gather anything for those limited sessions, here's couple of Brandon nuggets for tonight.

Liam Liston was the only goaltender to take to the ice for Brandon, so the expectation is that Corbin Boes will be the Wheat Kings' starter for Game #1 tonight.

Boes was the better of the two down the stretch for Brandon, going 4-2-1 with a 2.97 goals against average and a .905 Save Percentage over his last seven starts.

The 17-year old struggled in his only start against Medicine Hat this season, giving up three goals on eight shots in 26 minutes of action back on January 29th in what turned into an eventual 4-3 loss by the Wheat Kings.

Meanwhile, it appears Ryley Miller will be in the Wheat Kings' lineup after missing the last eight games of the regular season with a broken left hand.

Miller has been practicing with the Wheat Kings all week and rookie defenceman Spencer Galbraith, who would likely be the odd man out if Miller returned, was the last player off the ice during today's game-day skate.

For the Tigers, Tyler Pitlick (ankle) has been ruled out for the series while Sam Dezman (concussion) and Scott Ramsay (concussion) are also out for the series.

D Alex Theriau (undisclosed) will likely be a game-time decision.
