Couple of Monday Notes

- It's not a surprise to Wheat Kings' fans, but Matt Calvert's work ethic is also being lauded at the NHL level. More at

- They have yet to go head-to-head in a regular season game in the QMJHL, but former Wheat Kings Jacob DeSerres and Andrew Hayes will likely be at opposite ends of the rink when the playoffs open next week.

It was confirmed Sunday that DeSerres and the #1-ranked Saint John Sea Dogs will play Hayes and the 16th-place Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the opening round of the QMJHL playoffs.

DeSerres (below left) is 26-2-0 with a 2.20 GAA and .917 SCPT in 28 games with the Sea Dogs this season while Hayes (below right) are 12-21-1 with a 3.54 GAA and .884 SPCT in 40 games with the Screaming Eagles this season.
