Kuczek Set for WHL Debut

The Brandon Wheat Kings will have a new face in their lineup when they host the Regina Pats on Friday night.

The Wheat Kings have called up defenceman Dylan Kuczek from the Winnipeg Thrashers of the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.

The 16-year old Kuczek was Brandon's second round pick in the 2009 Bantam Draft and has ten goals and 18 points in 30 games with the Thrashers this season.

The 6-foot-0, 209 pound Kuczek saw action in two pre-season games with Brandon, collected one goal and three points last September before being assigned back to the AAA Midget ranks on September 19th.

Kuczek's addition was necessitated by a probable suspension to blueliner Spencer Galbraith and an injury to defenceman Brodie Melnychuk.

Galbraith was assessed a charging major and game misconduct during Wednesday night's game against Swift Current while Melnychuk is sidelined indefinitely with a fractured left leg.
