Prospect Update

As I tweeted at some point over the weekend, Wheat Kings' prospect Dakota Conroy and the Edmonton SSAC Athletics captured the Mac's Midget Tournament title on New Year's Day with a 3-2 victory over the Saskatoon Contacts.

Conroy had five goals and five assists for 10 points in seven games during the tournament.

Two other Wheat Kings' prospects played at the tournament:

- F Hunter Smith (Moose Jaw Generals) had one assist in four games. Smith, an ninth round pick in 2010, has three goals and six points in 26 games this season in the SMHL.

- F Jack Palmer (South Island Thunderbirds) had two goals and three points in four games. Palmer, an eighth round pick in 2010, has six goals and 17 points in 24 games this season.

- F Carter Proft was to play with the St. Albert Raiders at the Mac's as well, but the 16-year old has apparently been suspended indefinitely by the AMHL after an altercation with a linesman. I don't know much more about it than that.

- F Daniel Asham (Winnipeg Wild, MMHL) and F Brendan Harms (Portage, MJHL) both played with Team West at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. Asham has 15 goals and 44 points in 29 games this season while Harms is tied for second in rookie scoring in the MJHL with 19 goals and 39 points in 38 games. At the U-17's, Asham was pointless in five games while Harms had one goal and two points in five contests.
