Schenn on Way Back to LA

According to Helene Elliott of the LA Times on Sunday, the Los Angeles Kings are set to recall Brayden Schenn from this 'conditioning assignment' with the AHL's Manchester Monarchs on Monday.

Schenn had three goals, seven points and a +3 rating in seven games with the Monarchs in the past 10 days.

According to Elliott, Schenn isn't expected to play in the Kings' game in Anaheim on Monday night.

After returning to the Kings, Schenn could play one more game before the first year of his entry-level contract would kick in.

It might just be coincidence, but it's interesting to note that Schenn's impending recall to LA comes on the same day Hockey Canada is set to announce the Selection Camp roster for the Canadian Junior Team.

Might this be the preamble for the Kings to loan Schenn to the team for the World Junior Hockey Championship?

I believe that is what, eventually, may happen, though I'm not 100 per cent sure the Kings would have to make that decision now, or if they could wait until closer to the start of the Selection Camp in Toronto on December 11th.

BTW, I do think Brandon Wheat Kings' centre Scott Glennie has done enough over the last 5-6 weeks to earn an invitation to the Camp.

We'll find out at noon on Monday if the folks at Hockey Canada agree.

Bruce your support for Scott has been made quite clear over the years he has been a Wheatking. Hopefully Hockey Canada feels differently than a blogger with his own agenda. Good luck Scott!

I'll have to respectfully disagree with you on Glennie, Bruce. He has progressively gotten better as the year has gone on, but I still think he is behind players like Eakin, Howden, Nugent-Hopkins, Johansen to name a couple. And then you still have Vey, Shinnimin, Ashton, Weal, Howse, Connolly etc.

Having said that it would be nice to see him atleast get invited.

I think you should ready the story a little closer. As stated, I DO THINK Scott will get a spot on the camp roster.

BTW, the only agenda I have is to try and provide news and insight into the Wheat Kings and the WHL.

What do you think my agenda is? And, are you saying I've been less than supportive of Scott over the last 3 1/2 years?

Please feel free to get in touch with me directly at

Luber's been nothing less than professional and supportive to all the WK's as they endeavour to move through the hockey ranks, keep doing what you're doing Bruce!!
