Wheat Kings Trim Roster

The Brandon Wheat Kings reduced their roster to 32 players Sunday, assigning forward Daniel Asham and defencemen Dylan Kuczek to teams in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League and blueliner Josh Elmes to the MJHL's OCN Blizzard.

Asham will join the Winnipeg Wild, with whom he spent the 2009-2010 season, while Kuczek heads to the Winnipeg Thrashers.

Asham, 16, had one assist in three pre-season contests with Brandon while Kuczek, 16, recorded a goal and three points in two pre-season games. Elmes, 17, did not see game action in the pre-season.

The moves leave Brandon with 32 players on their roster -- five goaltenders, ten defencemen and 17 forwards.

Brandon is getting set for the start of the Western Hockey League regular season.

The Wheat Kings' first game is Friday, when they host the Regina Pats.
