Wheat Kings Close Out Pre-Season this Weekend

Players have their last chance to impress this weekend as the Brandon Wheat Kings conclude their pre-season schedule with a home-and-home series against Moose Jaw.

Brandon is 2-and-0 in the pre-season so far but assistant coach Mike Vandenberghe says they'll be looking for improvement over where they were last weekend.

"We've been working some system stuff all week and we want to see that implemented, we want to see guys compete" says Vandenberghe, "We'll see who can compete, who's picked up the system stuff from the week and who's ready to make that step toward opening night."

Vandenberghe adds it'll be a different challenge this weekend because it's the reverse of last weekend, when the club was on the road Friday and at home on Saturday.

Brandon hosts the Warriors Friday night (7:30 p.m., Westman Communications Group Place) before visiting the 'Crushed Can' on Saturday.

I'm not broadcasting either game this weekend, but you can check back on the blog or through my Twitter account (www.twitter.com/wheatkingsvoice) for updates.
