Just Notes
- Liam Liston gets the start in goal, the first netminder to make his Wheat Kings' debut in the home opener since Shaun Fleming (remember him?) in 2000.

- Mark Schneider (hip flexor) and goaltenders Jacob De Serres and Andrew Hayes are the odd ones out in the 20-year old situation.

- Jens Meilleur (broken hand) is the only other injury scratch, with G Corbin Boes, defencemen Eric Roy, Rene Hunter and Spencer Galbraith and forwards Carter Proft and Dakota Conroy are all healthy scratches. Brayden Schenn (Los Angeles) and Scott Glennie (Dallas) are still with their NHL teams.

- 11 rookies are in Brandon's lineup, including 20-year old David Toews and import Mark Mieritz. Of those, eight are making their WHL regular season debuts (Liston, Pulock, Fransoo, Swyripa, Toews, Seaman, Mieritz and Gaudet).

- Carter Ashton was returned to the Pats earlier today by the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning but is not in their lineup. Virden product Landon Peel is a healthy scratch for the Pats.
