Flames Assign Ferland Back to Brandon

Michael Ferland is on his way back to Brandon.

The NHL's Calgary Flames assigned Ferland back to the Wheat Kings on Sunday.

A fifth round pick of Flames in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Ferland had what was likely a disappointing first training camp with Calgary as he 18-year old did not get a chance to hit the ice because of a knee injury suffered in the Wheat Kings' training camp.

However, Ferland did skate after the on-ice practices on Saturday and skated again on Sunday and should be ready for the Wheat Kings' regular season opener on Friday against Regina.
