Two Ex Wheat Kings Commit to CIS

A pair of players with Westman connections will be suiting up for the Acadia Axemen next season.

Former Wheat King Nathan Green (right) and Deloraine product Jacob Dietrich will both play in the CIS this fall.

Green spent three seasons with Brandon before playing his 20-year old year with the Red Deer Rebels last year while Dietrich actually attended Acadia last year but was not eligible to play -- he had to sit out one season because he had spent a season playing professional hockey.

The duo will join former Wheat King Andrew Clark and Brandon product Zack McMillan on the Axemen.

There also a rumour that Jay Fehr has committed to Acadia for this fall.

I got a text from Jay yesterday stating that he hadn't committed anywhere, although he has talked to Acadia and indications are that he would go there if a pro opportunity doesn't come his way.

Former Brandon Wheat King Del Cowan has committed to the University of Manitoba Bisons for next season.

Cowan (left) spent two-plus seasons with the Wheat Kings before wrapped up his WHL career with the Calgary Hitmen this past year.

The Hartney product had 17 goals and 29 points in 67 regular season games and added four goals and 16 points in 23 playoff games this past season.
