CHL Import Draft Clarification

The Canadian Hockey League site for the Import Draft (www.chl.ca/importDraft.php) says Brandon's pick (59th overall) was traded to Medicine Hat.

This is incorrect.

As part of last year's CHL Import Draft Day dealings, the Wheat Kings traded the option of swapping first round picks in the 2010 Import Draft to Medicine Hat OR a sixth round pick in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.

As the Tigers finished below Brandon in the standings and have a higher pick in the Import Draft, they've obviously chosen the latter option (the 6th round pick).

Brandon DOES have the 59th pick.

BTW, the Prince George Cougars chose defenceman Martin Marincin of Slovakia first overall in the Canadian Hockey League annual import draft.

The 6-foot-4 187-pound defender was a second-round draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.
