Wildcats Set for Spitfires Tonight

The Moncton Wildcats will try to avoid Memorial Cup elimination Tuesday night when they take on the Windsor Spitfires (7:08 p.m., Westman Communcations Group Place).

The Wildcats are 0-and-2 and need a victory Tuesday to force their way into a tiebreaker on Thursday.

Moncton coach Danny Flynn says they're just starting their playoff round a little earlier than the other three teams.

Flynn adds he doesn't believe they've played to their full potential yet.

"I've thought we've played in spurts. I think some of the credit has to go to the quality of the opponents," said Moncton head coach Danny Flynn today, "The teams we play are very good teams, and perhaps deeper teams than what we see in our league on a consistent basis, but we have to play better if we want to be successful."

The Wildcats could have offensive forward Nicolas Dechamps in the lineup Tuesday.

Dechamps has been sidelined since april 23rd with a knee injury but has skated the last three days including this morning and is expected to be a game time decision.

Meanwhile, Windsor has little to play for Tuesday.

The Spitfires have already clinched top spot and a bye into Sunday's final.

While they may alter their game plan a little, Windsor coach Bob Boughner says they still plan in playing to win.

"We don't want to give anyone confidence, we don't want to get anyone on a roll so, of course, we want to win this game tonight," said Boughner this morning, "On the other hand, we want to make sure we use our bench and play all our guys and have even ice time and let the guys that don't play as much get some ice time tonight but that doesn't mean we're not trying to win the hockey game."

Boughner added number one netminder Philip Grubauerwill get the start in goal Tuesday.
