Wheat King Set for Semifinal

The Brandon Wheat Kings play their biggest game of the 2009-2010 season Friday night when they battle the Calgary Hitmen in the semifinal of the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup (6:00 p.m., 880 CKLQ).

On the line for the Wheat Kings is a spot in Sunday's Championship Final and a chance for the franchise to vye for junior hockey's most coveted prize for the first time since 1979.

"Definitely the biggest game to date and I'm looking forward to it," said Brandon goaltender Jacob De Serres after Friday's morning's game-day skate, "It is exciting and it's a great opportunity."

Brandon expects right-winger Scott Glennie (above right) to be in the lineup Friday after he participated in the game-day skate.

Glennie left Wednesday's game with an injury to his leg and didn't appear to be 100 percent today but still good enough to go.

"It was just, basically, a little banged up," says Glennie, "It's the biggest game of our lifes and I think our team understands that and we'll show a lot better today."

The Wheat Kings have lost six of their last eight games at Westman Communications Group Place and will also need some better production from their power-play tonight.

The club is 1-for-12 in the tournament and 3-for-35 in their last eight games dating back to the WHL playoffs.

Chaff...Calgary co-captain Ian Schultz skated with his team Friday and says he'll play though his right hand still appeared to be a little swelled up as he conducted interviews with the media...WHL Scoring Champion Brandon Kozun will play tonight after missing the last two games with a right ankle sprain.
