Toews Headed to Wheat Kings?

It appears the Brandon Wheat Kings could have an extra decision to make when it comes to 20-year old players next season.

There are reports that Winnipeg product David Toews is going to leave the University of North Dakota to play in the Canadian hockey league next season.

Toews was a sixth round pick of Brandon in the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft and the Wheat Kings still hold his playing rights.

Toews' career at UND hasn't gone exactly according to plan.

While he was drafted by the New York Islanders in the third round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, the younger brother of Chicago Blackhawks' captain Jonathan Toews had just nine goals and 26 points in 55 games the last two seasons and was a frequent scratch in UND's final games this past season.
