Hitmen Can't Clinch

Alexander Pechurskiy stopped 40 shots to lead the Tri-City Americans to a 4-2 victory over the Calgary Hitmen in Game #4 of the Western Hockey League Final on Wednesday night.

The victory allows the Americans to stay alive in the series, with Calgary still leading the Best-of-Seven 3-1.

Winnipeg product Mason Wilgosh, Justin Feser, Kruise Reddick and Zach Yuen scored for Tri-City while MacKenzie Royer and Giffin Nyren had the goals for the Hitmen.

Martin Jones stopped 26 shots in the Calgary net.

Game #5 is set for Friday at the Saddledome in Calgary.

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Final resumes Friday in Moncton.

The Wildcats currently lead the Saint John Sea Dogs 2-1.

The Ontario Hockey League Final ended earlier this week with Windsor completing a four-game sweep of the Barrie Colts to earn a trip to Brandon for the Memorial Cup.

I had a chance to guest with Rusty Thomson's on AM800 CKLW in Windsor Wednesday afternoon.

There's no doubt the Spitfires and their fans are looking forward to coming to Brandon to defend their 2009 Memorial Cup title.
