Wheat Kings/Blades Head-to-Head for Game #6

The Brandon Wheat Kings visit the Saskatoon Blades Monday night in Game #6 of their WHL Eastern Conference Semifinal.

The Wheat Kings have a 3-2 series lead as they play in a potential series-clinching Game #6 for the first time in five years.

"I think it's a case where you get experience on the fly," says Brandon GM/Coach Kelly McCrimmon, "You really need to adapt, adjust and re-focus and prepare differently than when you're in a series that goes in straight games."

The Wheat Kings haven't lost on the road in the 2010 post-season, going a perfect 4-and-0 including wins in the opening two games of this Eastern Conference Semifinal.

"The visiting team won the first four games so, fortunately for our team, we were able to rebound on home ice in Game #5, which was an important game in the series" says McCrimmon, "Our guys should feel some level of confidence (for Game #6 in Saskatoon) based on our performance earlier in the series."

Brandon has been getting good production from their specialty teams, and are currently #1 in the WHL in power-play and penalty-kill success rate among teams that made it to the second round.

"You always wish you could be better, but we haven't had a lot of opportunities anda we've managed to score on most nights," says McCrimmon, "I think we're doing enough things on both specialty teams that it's making a positive influence on our team."

Chaff...the last Game #6 the Wheat Kings played in the playoffs with a 3-2 lead in a series was May 1, 2005...F Aaron Lewadniuk takes a four-game point streak (2 G, 4 A) into Monday's contest.
