Wheat Kings Win Pivotal Game #5

The Brandon Wheat Kings took a 3-2 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal Saturday night with a 3-2 victory over the Saskatoon Blades.

Toni Rajala scored the game-winner with 2:04 left in the third period while Jacob De Serres stopped 34 shots in the Brandon net.

Aaron Lewadniuk and Alexander Urbom also scored scored for Brandon, who outshot the Blades 41-36 including 14-7 in the third period.

Marek Viedensky and Sena Acolatse scored the goals for Saskatoon while Steven Stanford had another strong game in the Blades’ net, making 38 saves.

Game #6 of the series goes Monday night in Saskatoon.

Chaff…Brandon scratches included F Jordan Hale, F Jesse Sinatynski, D Ryley Miller, D Jordan Fransoo and G Liam Liston…Saturday’s game was the first Game #5 Brandon had played on home ice since 2007…attendance Saturday was 4,026.
