Sutherland, Ams Have Extra Incentive

The Tri-City Americans have a little extra incentive heading into the Western Hockey League final.

The Americans feature ten Manitobans on their roster including Brandon product Brock Sutherland (right).

"We all want to be there," says Sutherland, who has one goal and four points in 17 playoff games, "We only get a chance to play there once every two years so to go and play there and play in the Memorial Cup, that's something that doesn't come around...ever for guys like us! It's definitely some extra incentive."

Tri-City will be appearing in the WHL Final for the first time in their franchise history, and visit the Eastern Conference Champion Calgary Hitmen Friday and Saturday for the opening two games of the Championship Series.

"We're not a big team but when we've had our success is when we play physical," says Sutherland, "When we play physical and use our speed...speed is a big key for our forwards up front. We're small but with the new game, speed kills so we're just going to keep up with that."

In addition to Sutherland, the Americans feature Winnipegers Brooks Macek, Adam Hughesman, Mason Wilgosh, Johnny Lazo, Brenden Shinnimin, Neal Prokop, Tyler Schmidt, Eric Mestery and Brett Plouffe.

Tri-City is looking to claim its first WHL title while Calgary is looking for their first league championship since 1999.
