Wheat Kings Continue Push Tonight

The Brandon Wheat Kings look for a sixth consecutive victory Wednesday night as they entertain the Moose Jaw Warriors (7:00 p.m., Westman Communications Group Place).

The Wheat Kings have the East Division title within their grasp and can guarantee finishing atop the Division by winning their final three regular season games this week.

"We got three big games left here. If we out, we beat Saskatoon, which is nice because we have our fate in our own hands," says Brandon right-winger Aaron Lewadniuk (right), "I think if we come into the three games, work really hard and keep it simple, things should go our way."

Brandon has the extra incentive of having come up just short of the East Division pennant a year ago, finishing just two points behind Saskatoon.

"A lot of guys from last year felt how close we were and how hard we worked and now we have a chance.," adds Lewadniuk, " As long as we do our work, things should go our way and I think the guys are pretty excited."

Three straight wins would also get the Wheat Kings to the 50-win plateau for the first time since 1995-96 and just the fourth time in franchise history.

Wednesday's game could also serve as a playoff preview.

Brandon holds the second-seed in the Eastern Conference and Moose Jaw is the seventh-seed, meaning the clubs would be first-round playoff opponents if things remain the same for the rest of the season.

Chaff...the Wheat Kings could get another body back from the injury list Wednesday. D Mark Schneider practiced without restrictions on Tuesday and appears ready to return after missing three games with a concussion...the Wheat Kings have put tickets for their first two playoff home games on sale. The games will take place on March 19 and 20.
