Wheat Kings Beat Up Warriors

Scott Glennie had two goals and two assists to lead the Brandon Wheat Kings to a 9-2 victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors Friday night.

Aaron Lewadniuk added a goal and three assists for the Wheat Kings, who broke things open with five goals in a six minute and 28 second span of the second period that turned a 2-1 deficit into a 6-2 lead.

Jay Fehr set up three Brandon goals including the Lewadniuk marker at 11:22 of the second period that tied the game and opened the Wheat Kings' offensive floodgates.

"We were kind of fighting it a bit in the first part of the game," says Fehr, who played his 250th career game Friday, "I think once that second goal went in, we started to get pucks deep and pucks to the net."

Matt Calvert, Brayden Schenn, Jordan Hale, Colby Robak, Brent Raedeke and Michael Ferland also scored for Brandon, who got points from 14 of the 17 skaters they had dressed for the contest.

The victory leaves Brandon three points ahead of Saskatoon and one point behind first-place Calgary in the Eastern Conference.

Both the Blades and the Hitmen were idle Friday night.

Next action for Brandon is Sunday night when they visit the Prince Albert Raiders (6:30 p.m., CKLQ).

Chaff...Friday's game was the 10th time this season the Wheat Kings treated their fans to a game of seven or more goals...Brandon scratches Friday were F Mark Stone (concussion), D Mark Schneider (concussion), F Paul Ciarelli (thumb) and D Ryley Miller (jaw)...Brandon D Travis Hamonic was held pointless and was -1 in his first game against his former team...former Wheat King Dallas Ehrhardt was a healthy scratch for Moose Jaw.
