Blades/Rebels Suspensions, Fines Announced

The Western Hockey League has spoken, and several members of the Saskatoon Blades will be sitting down for the next week or so.

After Sunday's end-game shenanigans, the WHL suspended Red Deer forward Josh Cowen for four games for the charging major he received for running over Saskatoon goaltender Steven Stanford.

The Rebels were also fined $250.00 for a warm-up violation.

The Blades, meanwhile, will be without GM/Head Coach Lorne Molleken for the next four games.

Four Saskatoon players were also suspended in Randy McNaught (5 games), Sena Acolatse (3 games), Duncan Siemens (3 games) and Darian Dziursynski (3 games).

The Blades were also fined $3,500 for starting what was, essentially, a one-sided line brawl in the final minute in addition to a $500,00 fine for the second multiple fight situation of the season and $250.00 for a warm-up violation.

Now, the only question is what impact the fines/suspensions will have on the series with the Rebels?

Saskatoon is up 2-0 with Game #3 Wednesday night in Red Deer.
